Two Dogs = One Toddler

Having two dogs is kind of like having one toddler. They are always up to something. Rusty has been busy catching (and killing we think) toads so his keeps having to get his mouth washed out. Maddee doesn't care so much about the live toads but she seems to be pretty good at finding dead ones and bringing them too us. Maddee is constantly pulling all the toys out of the toy basket, but never seems to be satisfied with what she finds.

Both pups with raw hides

Rusty looks crazy

Maddee threw almost all the toys out of the toy basket then started to get in the basket

No she isn't going potty....she decided she wanted to sit in the toy basket...crazy dog

Maddee found a toy that she was satisfied with...until Rusty decided to check it out

Another animal in the house!!!

Brice's parents are in Norway visiting his older brother, so we are watching Maddee. I think we should keep Maddee. Rusty and Maddee are best buds. Rusty has been teaching Madde how to properly look for squirrels in the back yard.

Climbing the tree because he sees a critter

Maddee learned to climb trees too

Maddee is still better at supervising the hunting

Riley posing...she's so skinney ;-)

I only had to work a half day today since I went to Oklahoma City on Tuesday for a Seminar. Colin Powell and Rudy Giuliani spoke. I spent all of this morning trainging people...which means that my to do list for next week is extremely long since I didn't get any of my work done today and it seems like i'm acquiring new projects on a daily basis. I've ended lately spending a lot of time working with the equipment and metallurgy groups in addition to all of my stuff, but it's a good change in pace even though it makes me super busy. When I got home today I cleaned up the house so we could enjoy the long weekend and not have to do the normal Saturday cleaning. We will probably go to Marlow to watch fireworks...or possibly Loco to see some redneck entertainment (lawn mower races) and fireworks on Saturday.

Brice Wants me to Blog

Brice has been complaining for a while that I need to blog...I don't feel like I ever have much to say though. We live in town (or should I call it a settlement) where the most happening place is Wal-mart or Braums on a Sunday evening. I'm sure that people are sick of seeing pictures of our hairy kids (dog and cats).

I went to Fort Worth a few weeks back (see Bailey's Blog for pics because I didn't take any that were very good) http://hughesbaby.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html I also got to stop i and see my good friend Berkeley on the for a few hours after leaving Jaime and Travis's house. Hopefully I'll be able to make it back down to see everyone again soon. Next time I'll have to plan more with Berkeley, her husband is scheduled to be deployed to Iraq in September and is in North Carlina for training.

Jaime and Bailey...from this pic you'd never know that he was not happy that morning

Bailey got some boxers while we were at Wal-Mart (See link above for more pics and video) He was surprised by the freedom of boxers :-)

Frog Dog...and cat

Rusty has an obsession with toads. When he sees them he goes into a trance, but as soon as they move he decides that he needs to pick them up. Rusty got a hold of one about three times in a row on the side of the house while Brice and I were cutting Jack's fur. He got super foamy, and I think he flung some of it in his eye, because he was rubbing it on everything....so we washed his eye and his mouth out and gave him a benedryl and that seemed to do the trick.

Some of Rusty's foam

The toad...you can see how much slobber there is on it
Jack is also interested in toads....he tapped it with his paw a few times, then decided to lick it....just FYI cats foam at the mouth too when they lick toads. After that he didn't want anything to do with it.

Misc

This is red "danger do not enter" tape. The safety guys strung it across one entrance to the lab and part of the other half after doing a chemical inspection....I found it funny that they didn't care about someone working two feet away or the heard of us that that was amused by the situation and felt compelled to take photos

Part of my lab with red tape across one entrance and lots of water samples

Brice and I went to Arlington to watch the Rangers play the Yankees last Wednesday. We ended up getting rained and hailed on....no baseball that night. We had awesome tickets too.

Jack is turning into a cheetah

He even has a polka dot belly

Four Door Sedan

Brice and I went to Amarillo last weekend for Memorial Day. Brice has had new car fever ever since Thanksgiving and would spend his evenings searching online for cars and reviews. We went to look at cars on Saturday...a Tahoe is what Brice and I thought we were looking for. We also looked at 4-Runners. And this is what he ended up getting

Had to put a Tech licence plate on the front, since it already had the holder and Oklahoma doesn't have front plates

The best part is the heated and cooled seats....it blows air up your butt :-)

Brice's secretary saw him driving on Friday and told everyone up there that Brice got a new car. Brice was going to the copy machine and someone asked him if he got a new car...he said yes...then they asked what kind....he said a four door sedan...they said that doesn't tell me much....then he said I'm sure you'll see me driving it....

Flowers

I'm acting like I know what I'm doing planting flowers out front this year. I planted some petunias, impatients, lantana, and few bulbs a few months ago that are starting to come up. I finally had a chance to put some mulch out today, it has been raining just about everyday here. Our yard...mostly weeds has been growing like crazy. I'm sure our neighbors are asking what we are doing having flowers and awful looking grass. I also bought an orchid today and I'm going to try not to kill the thing.

My Orchid

Close up of the orchid flower My "baby" petunias to the left of the driveway

My petunia around the mailboxThe big flower bed by the front door...pitiful looking roses....pink impatients(I bought two flats that were the best looking ones they had and they turned out to all be pink) some lantana towards the back were there is no shade from the tree in the front yard. Hopefully they all start the spread out soon and look really good.

Brice is so happy that all the animals want to be by him

Jack looks like he's laughing.....His foot is still yellow from back in Feb. when he first got sick because the medicine he was taking had a yellow-orange dye...which seems to be permanent

Riley snoozing, telling us to turn the lights out

This is how Rusty falls asleep every night...this toy has been named the "bedtime bone" because he only cares about it when it's time for bed

'nuggin' on Jack
